May 27-June 4, 2011

The triplets are getting big and are growing too fast!  Our little preemie babies look like regular sized babies now!  Lou and Cece (great-grandparents to our kiddos and Sarah's grandparents) came up from California to meet the trio for the first time.  They were amazed at how we have 3 infants!  They also gave Sarah props for breast-feeding still and for her patience.  We are having fun everyday watching Hayden play with the triplets and seeing him interact with them!
Their weights on June 2, 2011 were:
Hunter 12 lbs 15 oz and 24.5 inches long
Hadley 10 lbs 8 oz and 22.5 inches long
Holden 11 lbs 13 oz and 22.5 inches long
We are trying to do more tummy time with them, especially Hunter since he is still having a hard time holding his head up (we think it is because he is so big).  Shonie, Max, and Alli came on June 3 and saw the triplets for the first time.  Hayden had a blast with Max and they got to play outside with Hayden's water pirate ship.

May 16-26, 2011

Like I always say, where is time going?  These past few weeks were filled with family and friends as well as work.  I went back to work full time the week of May 22.  It is not as bad as I thought it was going to be since it is only 3 days!  I am glad I work 12 hour shifts because it gives me more time at home.  On May 21, we took the triplets and Hayden to the Scio Lamb and Wool Fair parade and Hayden had a blast picking up candy!  Katie, Olivia, Ashley, and my Mom and Dad came too.  Olivia is getting so big and Hayden loves "talking" to her.  Our friends Sue, Jessica, and Liz came down and were able to spend the day at my parents' house with Sarah and our 4 kids while I worked.  The triplets are all growing like crazy and are all at the stage of looking around, smiling, and cooing.  It is so much fun!  Hayden enjoys getting down and being right in their face and saying, "Hi" to them.  We are also glad that our friends, Brooke and Ben, have Evan home with them.  However, we are sad they are moving back to Minot, ND where their families are.  We are happy they get to be with their families because we could not imagine what it would be like to not have our families right here to help us!
Their weights on May 19 were:
Hunter 11 lbs 15 oz
Hadley 9 lbs 11.5 oz
Holden 10 lbs .5 oz
Today, May 26, our good friends Jeff and Mindi along with Boone and Finn, came over and met the triplets for the first time!  They brought us delicious dinner and dessert.  Hayden had a blast running around with them.  It was reassuring to know they did not leave when all 3 babies were crying.  Instead, they held them while Sarah gave baths.  Hayden, Boone, and Finn all helped give baths.  Before we knew it, Boone was in the bathtub too, followed by Finn!  Hayden did not want to get in.  It was a lot of fun!
Their weights on May 25 were:
Hunter 12 lbs 6 oz
Hadley 10 lbs 6 oz
Holden 11 lbs 6.5 oz

Thanks for the support and this is an amazing journey we are on for sure!  We are enjoying and cherishing  every minute of it and feel blessed to have what we do everyday!

May 2-May 15, 2011

Like I always say, time is sure flying by!  We went to Katie, Kyle, and Olivia's for Katie's birthday party and took the whole clan.  We had a fun time for sure!  Our friends Drew and Jenn and their little boy Krew brought us dinner.  We all went for a nice walk with our total of 5 kids!  Hunter, Hadley, and Holden are now all smiling and cooing at us!  It is amazing to see and it is pretty neat because it seems like whenever you want to, you can get at least one of them to smile!  For Mother's Day, my Grandma Gescher and my Mom stopped by for a little bit.  That afternoon we went to Bob and Nancy's for dinner and Brandon and Amy came.  It was a fun outing with our 4 kids!
Their weights on May 7, 2011 were:
Hunter 11 lbs 1 oz
Hadley 9 lbs 1.5 oz
Holden 10 lbs 3.5 oz
Hayden is growing and getting too big too fast!  He seems so old now just because of how independent he is getting.  In fact, on May 12, Hayden got out of our bed after his nap and walked out into the living room with no fuss at all.  Our friend Tamara let us rent her and her husband Eric's beach house in Netarts for the weekend and we had a blast!  This was our first vacation with our triplets!  Tamara was nice enough to bring us the keys before we left and also brought us some of their coffee they roast themselves.  You have got to try their coffee out, it is the best!  Their company name is Silver Falls Coffee Company (http://www.silverfallscoffee.com/index.html).  It is the best coffee we have ever had!  Anyways, my Grandma Gescher, my Dad and Mom, Katie, Kyle, and Olivia, and Ashley came with all 6 of us.  We enjoyed the time away from home and loved the time we all got to spend together.  Olivia is sure a cutie pie and she is "talking" all the time!  We ventured to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and we brought our triplet stroller.  We could not go past someone without them staring into each seat.  When one lady noticed there was 1 empty car seat, she asked me if we had triplets and I told her that one was in the car.  She said, "I hope you left the windows cracked," with a joke.  I told her, "Ha, my wife is feeding one in the car."  It is quite funny to see all the stares we get whenever we go somewhere!  Hayden loved running around the factory and we got him his own ice cream cone!  We then stopped at Blue Heron French Cheese Company and took Hayden around their petting zoo.  We never took the triplets on the beach because of the wind, but my Mom and I took Hayden for about a half hour and he had so much fun!  Sarah was too busy feeding the triplets, so she could not come with us to the beach.  It was definitely a trip we will never forget!  We continue to get help from our families, which we are so grateful for!  My Grandma Lulay came and helped my dad watch the triplets when Sarah, I, and Hayden went to a nursery.  My Grandma Gescher also came and helped one afternoon.  Every single day I look at my family and think to myself, "What have I done to be so blessed to have such an amazing wife and 4 kids, then amazing extended families too?"  Sarah is still breastfeeding all the triplets and despite it taking most of her time up everyday, she still manages to always be at ease and have a smile on her face.  I am married to a saint!  She never gets stressed out and helps me when I feel overwhelmed!  Thanks hun!

April 23-May 1, 2011

This posting involves our triplets' first holiday, Easter!  The day before Easter, Sarah and I took Hayden to his first Easter egg hunt at Scio High School.  He had a blast and ran to all the eggs.  He ended up with a basket full!  We had an awesome Easter and we went to my aunt Michelle and uncle Larry's house with the entire Gescher side (even Chris, Terri, Jeffrey, Jillian, and Paul came).  Then, that evening, Bob and Nancy made us an Easter dinner at our house, which was extremely nice so we did not have to go anywhere.  However, on Monday, April 26, I took Hayden to the pediatrician and he got diagnosed with croup.  They have him a one time dose of Decadron, which was supposed to work for 3 days (usually croup's worst symptoms are in the first 3 days).  They also told me to keep Hayden away from the triplets, so I stayed at my parents' house.  Nancy helped out a ton with the triplets when I was gone.  We can always count on her helping us!  My aunt Michelle helped Sarah for 2 days in a row, and Malia got to help one day.  My aunt Terri and Jeffrey were here all week.  My uncle (soon to be) Chris was here most of the week, besides having to fly out to give some presentations.  Then, on Tuesday, April 26, we took the triplets to their 2 month appointment and their weights and lengths were:
Hunter: 10 lbs 1.5 oz and 22.25 inches
Hadley:8 lbs 9 oz and 21 inches
Holden: 9 lbs 6.5 oz and 21.5 inches
Since they are doing so good, we no longer have to mix formula to add to breast milk! They get to exclusively breastfeed now!  Sarah is an amazing mom and should get "Mom of the Year Award!"
I worked Thursday and Friday this week.  Then, on Friday, Hayden's cough came back and got worse, so the pediatrician decided to put him on Prednisolone for 4 days and also gave us a steroid for his nebulizer to use.  The last 2 times he had croup it turned into bronchiolitis, which he was hospitalized both times for.  We hope he keeps getting better.  We went over to Kyle, Katie, and Olivia's house for Kyle's birthday on April 30th.  Today, May 5th, Sarah is going to my cousin Nicole's baby shower, so my dad is here to help me out.

April 10-22, 2011

Wow, these past few weeks have flown by once again!  Today the triplets are 2 months old!  I worked a few days here and there since my last posting.  Sarah's 24 hour urine test came back normal, so her kidneys and liver healed despite how bad her preeclampsia was!  Sarah is the best mom and wife ever!  She is still breastfeeding all 3 and it is going better each day!  She is determined to do it until they are at least a year.  Hayden quit using his bottle and is now just using his sippy cup!  Also, our mare Anna (registered APHA name: Dun in Montana) had a nice colt on 4/20/11.  He looks to be a dun with black points tobiano.  He also could be homozygous for tobiano and for black.  He will be for sale!
On April 13, 2011 their weights were:
Hunter 9 lbs 3 oz
Hadley 7 lbs 11 oz
Holden 8 lbs 15 oz
Hayden is having more and more fun with them.  They are liking to play on their play mats.  On 4/21 Hunter actually reached up and touched the toys!
Today, on April 22, 2011 (exactly 2 months old) their weights were:
Hunter 9 lbs 14 oz
Hadley 8 lbs 5 oz
Holden 9 lbs 4 oz

April 2-9, 2011

This past week I went back to work 2 days, which was really hard being away.  However, these 2 days flew by and I now have 8 days off!  My aunt Michelle helped Sarah on Tuesday while I was at work.  Our parents continue to help us too.  My aunt Michelle and Presley helped watch the babies and Hayden with me while Sarah went to NW Perinatal Center for her 6 week check.  Everything went well and she now has to take 1 tab of labetalol twice a day instead of 2 twice a day.  Her blood pressure is a lot better.  She has to do a 24 hour urine test to see if her protein is going down.  This will show us that her liver and/or kidneys were not damaged from her severe preeclampsia.  Tyler and Autumn got to meet our triplets for the first time.  Autumn and Tyler are going to make awesome parents!  My Grandma and Grandpa Gescher came over for dinner on Friday night and they brought halibut with them for dinner.  This was the first time my Grandpa has been out to our house since he was hospitalized.
On April 7, 2011 their weights were:
Hunter 8 lbs 12 oz
Hadley 7 lbs 6 oz
Holden 8 lbs 1 oz
It is amazing how strong they are all getting.  They all seem to like tummy time and we are trying to do this often for them to gain neck strength.  The Statesman Journal did an article on our family and it can be seen at: http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article/20110407/NEWS/104070353/Scio-family-adjusts-triplets?odyssey=tab%7Ctopnews%7Ctext%7CHome
We felt very blessed to have them do this story and it will be fun to show our kids it in the future!  We also got back the rest of our pictures from Julie Martin of ZoZoBugBaby.  Here they are:

Our mare Anna (Dun in Montana) is getting closer and closer to foaling.  Here are some pictures showing her pregnant belly.

March 29-April 1, 2011

On Tuesday, March 29th, one of our friends' triplets, Evan, was admitted to the peds ICU for NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis).  We have been praying everyday for him and their family.  We met them through our triplet group and they were right next to our triplets in the NICU.  Please keep them in your prayers.  Their blog is at: http://journeyofatrio.blogspot.com/  We know he will pull through and recover with no problems.  We are looking forward to some awesome triplet play dates and big brother play dates.  They are in the same situation as us.  They have an older son (a little older than Hayden) and their identical triplets are exactly a month older than ours.  Our parents have once again been helping us out.  My aunt Michelle, helped us all day on Tuesday and she plans to from here on out.  She calls it "Triplet Tuesdays."  We are thankful for her help!  My Grandma Gescher knitted some cute hats for the babies.  My Grandma Lulay made us homemade bread, monster cookies, and banana muffins.  We took the triplets to the doctor yesterday (March 31) for their Synagis shots to prevent RSV.  Their weights were amazing yesterday so we no longer have to wake them at night to feed!  We also decreased their kcal from 24 to 22, so we mix 130 ml of breast milk for 1 tsp of Enfacare.  Hunter also has an umbilical hernia, which should resolve by the time he is preschool age.  If not he will need surgery (but hopefully not).  My Grandpa Gescher came home from the hospital and my aunt Terri and uncle Chris got to see our triplets for the first time.
On March 31, 2011 their weights were:
Hunter: 8 lbs 1.5 oz
Hadley 6 lbs 14 oz
Holden 7 lbs 9.5 oz
A little off topic, but I leased one of my mares, Latte, out to a lady in Imbler (Carrie) and she had her foal.  He is a homozygous tobiano colt.  Her website is at: http://www.cjquarterhorsespaints.com/  She is going to sell him too, so if you need a nice colt, contact her.  Here are some pics….

My mare Sarah got me from Montana was in training last year and a stallion at the barn got out and bred her accidentally.  Of course, Anna got pregnant.  However, he was a registered paint, so the lady is going to let me register the foal.  Anna is due April 14, so we will have another "baby."  Hayden will love playing with it.  Anna is going to foal at my Grandpa and Grandma Gescher's house.  She has been at my Grandpa and Grandma Lulay's since last spring (thanks to my Grandpa Lulay for taking care of her and our gelding).
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.
